I believe that darker characters are more revealing in the end. They show this dark wall, nothing really to know about the character. As the movie or story progresses, you see the darker side become clearer and get darker. That's why Fabrizia was unique. She had the shy innocent yet secretive look about her when she met Fingerling. That's what carried her character though the movie until she was killed.
I would say I'm more like Fabrizia. I'm dark and I do like to keep things at bay and when my fiancee doesn't realize it, I let the dark side out and show him something he never saw before.
For some odd reason, that sounded a little bit of Star War-zy.
