Last night I remembered courgettes are zuchini and aubergines are eggplant. Told you my French was rusty.

In case you are ever in a restaurant with a menu in French: rognons are kidneys.

My father ordered them three times by accident when we first moved to Belgium. The third time he was presented with a plate of kidneys, he had just finished telling the people we were eating with that he had accidentally ordered them twice. :)

Which is why, ladies and gentlemen, I will only eat in an english or spanish speaking country. Unless forced. . .Then it's Off to MCDonalds where they have pictures of their food!

My mom got served a heaping plate of battered, deep fried minnows in the Camargues in France. I had the duck....I was usually willing to trade, but I'm not a pelican. She switched with Dad....he had a plate with 5 or 6 really small fish battered and deep fried.

That reminds me... I haven't had nachos in a long freaking time.
