I have a dream... God can you rid the world of drugs?

Postby wonderbunny » Thu Jul 14, 2005 1:39 am

I have just found out that another 'old friend' passed away. He was living a double life and addicted to drugs. He was known to be so full of life. 'Life of the party' at least that's how remembered him. But that was many years ago. Years of smoking the green stuff and gradually withdrawing from friends and acquaintences, he turned to harder narcotics, alcohol and reckless behavior. He passed away, a very unhappy person and desparate for love. He filled the void of love with pollutants and chemicals designed to kill the human body, mind and spirit. They call it 'addiction'; I call it a slow form of suicide. I say another prayer tonight; God... can you do something about this epidemic? Your children are dying everyday and the laws don't seem to prevent their deaths. I torn, if the person will break the law to do the drug, then won't the break other laws too? Who produces this kind of stuff? Whoever they are, they are monsters.

He will turn it around and say, what can you do?

"Free will is to man what love is to God."

Basically, we're in this together. We need to figure out a way to solve the problems Man has created.

God loves us too much to step into our lives and solve everything that is wrong with it. That takes away our ability to make our own decisions, learn from our mistakes and suffer the consequences.

And He's just as sad as we are when tragic things happen. That's why it's so important to be Proactive, instead of Reactive.

Let's not wait until our friends die to be moved into doing something that will help others.

The Big Question we can ask ourselves is, What can I do?

wonderbunny - i am so sorry for your loss. i lost a close friend this year and it's been very tough.

filomena - that was very well said. Proactive not reactive - if only we could extend this method of living to all aspects of life, government, religion, love, etc. it would be an actual productive environment on so many levels :)

Yes, people who manufacture illegal drugs are monsters. It's plainly an immoral means to livelihood.

I like the saying Filomena, "Free will is to man what love is to God." We have the resources to use our free will in the right direction. We often end up using freewill in the wrong direction.... I think it's because we don't have 'enough God' in our lives (?) Would wonderbunny's friend have led a better life if he was spiritually awakened? Hesistantly though, I would say yes. So, it is also the loss of an opportunity (called life) that makes me sad as much as the harm and unhappiness that this individual put himself through.

I may not be the right person to be talking about addictions since I don't know how addictions work. And as far as I know many addicts come from protective and loving families. But it requires a personal inner strength to break this chain, and it can only come from above.

It's the rise of prescription drug addictions which is becoming an even scarier phenomena...........

I have a friend who says: "God does his part, we should do ours" ... I agree with him and with Filomena... posing the question "what can I do" is maybe the first step to fight against drugs -- I had a friend fighting depression a few years ago and no prescribed drug would take her away from that state... so she gave them up, and with the help and support of her family and friends and a lot of patience and resilience from everyone she got back from the bottom a year later. Hers was a successful story and I would like to see it emulated everywhere... but not everyone has the support they need or can see a way out of drugs (prescribed or not)... and our system is designed to make it even harder!

This is a societal problem and affects every (EVERY) family in one way or another. I believe the dealers focus on the weak and the lonely, the
ones that may have access to the money to feed their heavier habit.
For the dealers its not a matter of giving but getting as much as they can out of any kid who will. I wish all children could see the villain inside of the dealer and stay far, far, far away, out of reach. Remember the dealer was once just like that child, vulnerable. I think we need a Jim movie that will be humourous, teaching and assistive for all kids who fall prey to this, something that will teach their inner soul, so that these kids can realize what is really happening inside of it all and what the real outcome will be. Kid/youth believe it's fun, but in the end the fun falls all to pieces, leaving only an empty shell.
I too pray, it's like an all outright battle to protect our children, only the battle scars remain for a long, long time.
I too have seen people who have made drugs or alcohol their addiction, sometimes they are just too weak to turn it around, maybe they need to learn how it's done. The only way to teach is to see the whole picture and how to fight the battle, it can't be a preachy movie but a stirring moving that will affect the soul(people) into action. I don't know if it is possible to create such a thing.

Xanax

Postby Twigggy » Fri Jul 22, 2005 9:13 pm

My shrink prescribed me Xanax and I took it for about two months; After taking it I decided I felt worse being on it than I was without it. My Doctor told me to stop cold-turkey because it is not agreeing with my body. It's been 3 weeks now and I still feel like shit, and terrible.

Twiggy, does excercise or going for a walk help?

Postby Canadian Jayne » Fri Jul 22, 2005 9:47 pm

Do you get out and go for a walk, swim, cycle etc. and
get those good enzymes that can perk you up?

Yeah, I went for a walk today. I may go for another. And I'm taking all my Vitamins too. Not much of a dent. My appetite isn't like it use to be either.
