Really dumb embarrissing question

Postby cotton » Sun Aug 07, 2005 1:08 am

This may sound like a dumb question but I have a goldfish that lives in a bowl and I am wondering if fish that live in bowls need gravel? We use it but I am tired of cleaning those messy little rocks. I tried looking it up on the net but nothing I saw answered my question. I am sure there has to be some goldfish owners on this site somewhere.

If you have a filtration sytem for your goldfish, you should get another fish called a "Plecostomus", also known at a "suckermouth catfish". They are great. They suck all of the algae, etc. away and out of the rocks. If you don't have a filtration system, you may want to research online to see if a plecostomus can live without it. I've always had them in my aquariums and had one in my Koi pond as well.

Hope that helps!

I have a goldfish that just lives in a plain tank. It doesn't need gravel.
