Really dumb embarrissing questionThis may sound like a dumb question but I have a goldfish that lives in a bowl and I am wondering if fish that live in bowls need gravel? We use it but I am tired of cleaning those messy little rocks. I tried looking it up on the net but nothing I saw answered my question. I am sure there has to be some goldfish owners on this site somewhere.

If you have a filtration sytem for your goldfish, you should get another fish called a "Plecostomus", also known at a "suckermouth catfish". They are great. They suck all of the algae, etc. away and out of the rocks. If you don't have a filtration system, you may want to research online to see if a plecostomus can live without it. I've always had them in my aquariums and had one in my Koi pond as well.
Hope that helps! Profound words are not clever. Clever words are not profound. -Verse 81 of the Tao Te Ching
I have a goldfish that just lives in a plain tank. It doesn't need gravel.
