I'm curious to hear about people's first jobs. I'm convinced I had the BEST first job ever. I talked on another thread about helping out in my parents' hardware store, but in 1983 we moved to the Washington DC area. I told my mom when I was 14 that I wanted to go to work. I didn't like babysitting and wanted a regular job. So one day we just walked into the West End Dinner Theatre in Alexandria, Virginia. I asked if they needed any help and the stage manager, I'll never forget his name, Chappell Aldridge, said "our light board operator just quit if you're interested."
They were doing a production of "The Music Man" and the stage manager would call the cues to me over a headset and I'd make the appropriate changes from a board backstage.
The people I worked with were SO GREAT! We were always laughing and kidding around.
Unfortunately, I only got to do it for about 4 months before we moved to Belgium. I missed those co-workers for a LONG time.
