I miss innocence and trust .......(lol..god that's deep...lol)
everyone seems to be so wrapped up in modern life that the simple stuff gets lost.............. and people look at the hand of friendship with suspicion....lol.....as though you are a secret scientologist playing a waiting game........lol........... It was much easier when we were all kids.........we'd play and fight and make up................ i wish i was a little kid again.............sigh..... fluffy Last edited by fluffy on Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:23 am, edited 1 time in total.

I miss respect!
Today I had a meeting with one of my student's parent..she spent the entire meeting telling us how it was everyone's elses fault that her child is the way he is Its my fault, the schools, the ohter kids in the class, the people who live in the neighborhood... When told she should do flash cards at home with her child to practice basic math facts she said she does not have time for that...even when told we would supply the cards for her she said quote "don't bother I wont do it" Sorry... I needed to vent
we're in the same boat.............the kids i work with are the most deprived in the area and on parents night last year NO parents came to see me.........lol............not because i breathe fire .....i'm not a scary teacher........lol..but because they don't care about thier kids.......sometimes it breaks my heart.........
The kids are grubby, unkempt, and quite often sent to school with no breakfast......so they have to wait until they can get their free school lunch at 12.15..........it breaks my heart............. fluffy Fluffy
"Once upon a time, there was a place called earth, where its inhabitants respect one another, help one another, and above all love one another... In this beautiful place, parents would take on the responsibility of educating their kids and have teachers at a high steem. Parents worked hard to provide a better life for their family and were very concerned about passing on to their kids values that would help them to live a fulfilling life..." This sounds so passe, doesn't it? ... in our society today parents "outsource" their kids education to the school and expect their kids to do well, otherwise the fault is entirely the teacher' and the school's ...
yep..........well put..........but we can't be with the kids 24/7.......
i'd be happy if my pupils were clean, fed and safe at night...........they don't even have that in some cases............... fluffy Last edited by fluffy on Sat Nov 19, 2005 2:11 am, edited 1 time in total.

That's true... some (or many) children not even have a home 9not a house)... and are abused by their parents and relatives... the number of kids living on the streets has increased dramatically... that's another consequence of our moderm society... There are so many wonderful projects out there that try to help these kids and provide them with opportunities to become "citizens"... but there are so much that these projects, houses, or otherever they are called, can do... and so many children out there that cannot be reached.
y'know i think Angelina Jolie has really good intentions........she's doing something she believes in and helping kids who would have otherwise died.............
i think if i were a big movie star i'd abuse that position to force people to take note and help................ i guess i'd use a lot of the money philanthropically too............. and i know stars donate a lot of cash...but most of that's for tax purposes.........and they're not really changing anything............ So i am gonna take my hat off to Ms Jolie...........she's doing it!!!......respect............ fluffy Fluffy
THanks Guys! I know after 10 years of teaching I should have thicker skin
I love teaching and I love my job.. but there are days that I as myself if its time to do something else. I remember when parents actually cared about their child's education and came in for parent conferences...even took time from thier work. Sometimes I feel like a professional scapegoat
When your skin becomes so thick that bad parental behavior no longer effects you, then it's time to quit. We need more teachers like you!
I still think Angelina Jolie's a homewrecking faux martyr.
And I'll bet Lite Brites got removed because some kids stuck those pegs up their nose. Protect us from a lack of common sense. I miss people who are genuine. No mask...and take responsibility for their own actions. "When in doubt, tell the truth."

HHmmm.................but Brad's gotta take responsibility too..........he wasn't the free agent......Angelina was................. besides he claims they only got together After he had split with Jen............ but this ain't about Brangelina.....it's about her genuine desire to help........ and i don't think that's in dispute............ Yeah she's been as mad as a box of frogs in the past.........but she's a great spokesperson for kids charities now........................ Everybody makes mistakes...........she's had her fair share of heartache.......i'm glad they are happy.......... fluffy Last edited by fluffy on Sat Nov 19, 2005 7:15 pm, edited 1 time in total.
