My cousin got back last night and showed me some of the 2000 photos that they have taken. He said, "We have to be really careful and take them when no one else is around....because we don't want to look like spectators.".
You can imagine the scale of this...and they are able to go to even the closed off areas...if you think the disaster area here is the size of ENGLAND.
When the thing hit, it had 120 mph winds along with a 45 foot storm surge.
That's just a different way to say tidal wave accompanied by incredible winds. Some areas he was showing look clear....there's nothing there...he said, they haven't been cleared by men...when the storm surge relented it just washed everything into the ocean.
You'd see something intact, and then realize it was two blocks away from it's foundation...it just picked up everything and moved it.
There is some humor to be found though. One white house had "Wicked Witch" and an arrow pointing down spray painted on it.
Another sign said, "You loot...WE SHOOT!"
And interestingly enough there was an adult novelties shop on the beach.
The waves cleared out the inventory.
All the adult novelties are stuck in the sand on the beach like they're growing wild.
My cousin brought back a gigantic blue use-your-imagination as a souvenir.
