Brokeback, what did you think ?I went to see Brokeback Mountain yesterday as I'd heard it was so good in all the reviews ect. I must admit I only went because all the whohaa, and what with all the predicteds awards. But I was left wondering why ?? Although I did enjoy the film, the acting was perfect for the roles but I feel it wasnt so much about the quality film but all about the so called shock facter. But somehow I wasnt shocked, maybe its me that Ive been dumbed down (think Ive heard that phrase before !!)
i Think it's a cultural thing Trish......Cowboys/Rednecks are meant to be streeotypical 'real' men..........They are not meant to be gay.............
But remember Britain is FAR MORE OPEN minded about stuff like that anyway...........we see it on the telly all the time and it's almost passe now......... But remember the HOO HAA when Ellen came out in the states..........we were like 'big deal'.............so the shock factor is coming from the US..........we'll be looking at it as a beautiful and sad love story. But that's the angle the critics are taking it from anyhow......... fluffy Fluffy
Okay, I'm going to be treading a tightrope with my comments. I happen to be very religious and in my faith, somethings are not acceptable. I love the person too much for this type of movie to be entertaining. I happen to fear God and I want to go to Heaven, so you can surmise my thoughts on the matter. I have known many wonderful gay people in my life, but its a heartwrenching topic. I have studied my Bible relentlessly, and I'm not homophobic; but It has been written clearly in my religion. Therefore I have to abide.
i odon't know about the movie but my back is killing me right now......thats what i get for eatting pop tarts while running up and down stairs.
I am part of an elite group of people......THE MEN OF JCO.
