Celebrities you admire

Postby Filomena » Thu Jan 26, 2006 8:33 pm

Here's an interesting topic.

Which celebrities do you admire the most? and this has nothing to do with their acting ability. In fact, the people on my list are not necessarily my favourite actors.

Here's my list.

1) Leanardo Di Caprio, for taking a stand on the environment. Good for you, Leo!
2) Susan Sarandon - for aging so gracefully.
3) Angelina Jolie - for her commitment to helping children. She doesn't have to adopt, but chooses to because of her passion.
4) Mike Myers - for being so proud to be Canadian. One of the few Canadian celebrities who came out to support us during that awful Sars epidemic. And I love his Scottish accent.
5) Halle Berry - for her support to abused women (she helped to open up a hostel, not too long ago)
6) Paris Hilton - for not buckling under the pressure and getting a boob job. You go, girl! (don't laugh! there are alot of things you can call her, but I must say I admire her for her self-confidence, so shut-up!)

Any more???
The truth shall set you free.

Jim Carrey for his candid comments about life. You may not always understand him, but he is completely honest so you always know where he stands. I find that refreshing.

Jaime Fox - I just saw him on Bravo 'Actors Studio' where they interview actors about the life, their art and career. OH, I found him so charming and interesting!

Robin Williams - He's like a wind up toy...

Arnold Schwartzenegger, his acting and his inner drive to be the best at what ever he does. Body Building, becoming a citizen, learning the language, wanting to be in Hollywood when he didn't fit the profile, comedian, megastar and now governor. What a life he's lead. Inspiring isn't the word. He's also candid about his mistakes, you know he's trying to be the best person he can be; And Maria Shriver is wonderful. I think its the couple are powerful reflection of 'Love' and Power collide. Powerful union.

Ooh, going back to the older generation; would have to say Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior (His autobiography was intense) Breaking down racial boundaries in entertainment. Big challenge was in Las Vegas with the Brat Pack. Frank was instrumental in that manner. Sammy married a white Norwegian in the 50's and that was a bombshell! Even held up his wedding for Kennedy's Presidential election... Sensitive subject, heartbreaking story, but a wonderful human being.
