01 Mar 2009 By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))
Various publications are breaking the story that Jim Carrey is to star in a musical movie. With Jake Gyllenhaal to co-star, they are said to be attached to a new movie adaptation of the classic Broadway musical "Damn Yankees".
Set during the 1950s, the musical concerns a young Washington Senators fan who sells his soul to Mr. Applegate (the devil) for a chance to help his team beat the New York Yankees in the World Series. While contracts are yet to be signed, Jim is in line for the devilish role and Gyllenhaal as the baseball fan turned winning slugger Joe Hardy.

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce for New Line. The producing duo is behind such movie musical hits as Hairspray and Chicago.
For those of us desperate to hear more of Jims singing, looks like our chance has finally come.
