Christmas Carol Fever hits London

Central London will be transformed into a Dickensian frenzy of activity this week, as "Disney's A Christmas Carol" premieres in Leicester Square and Jim Carrey and stars from the movie switch on the Christmas lights in a three centre, simultaneous switch on. The public are also invited to take part in a world record attempt for the biggest Carol concert and assorted musicians and popstars will add to the party atmosphere.
On Tuesday 3rd November, three locations across the city will come together to create London's first ever co-ordinated street concerts and Christmas light switch-on, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Oxford Street Christmas lights.
London's Christmas lights will be switched on alongside street concerts between 5:00pm and 6:30pm.
Jim Carrey will take the main stage at Oxford Circus where he will switch on the lights accompanied by-
- Girl group The Saturdays
- UK no. 1 artist Taio Cruz
- Peter Andre
- Stars of Sister Act
Colin Firth will take the stage for the switch on in Regent Street, accompanied by-
- London indie band The Noisettes
- MTV Europe Award nominee Daniel Merriweather
- Followed by Jodie Prenger from Oliver
- Finally, The London Community Gospel Choir will perform
Bob Hoskins will take the stage over at St Paul's Cathedral, accompanied by-
- Legendary 1980s icons Spandau Ballet
- Exciting new starlet, Little Boots
- Britain's Got Talent star Faryl Smith
- The St Paul's Cathedral Choir
- The cast of Hairspray
- Andrea Bocelli
After the entertainment, it'll be your turn! Led by Andrea Bocelli and the St Paul's Cathedral Choir live on big screens in Oxford Circus, you can help London secure the world record for the most people singing a Christmas carol.
Register your participation by texting "carol" to 84383. Your text will make a donation to the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity redevelopment appeal.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL WORLD PREMIERE
After the switch on head on over to Leicester Square where The World Premiere of "Disney's A Christmas Carol" is being held at 7:30pm. The film's world premiere will be one of the most glittering and star-studded premieres that London has ever seen, attended by all the major stars including Jim Carrey and director Robert Zemeckis.
The film will be screened in three of London's leading cinemas � the Odeon Leicester Square, the Empire Leicester Square and the Odeon West End, all in cutting-edge Disney Digital 3D � creating the biggest-ever 3D screening.
This magical event will raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. Charles Dickens himself was one of the founding patrons of Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital. Disney continues this support through a partnership with the hospital to raise an invaluable �10 million towards the Great Ormond Street Hospital redevelopment appeal.
