25 Mar 2010 By Tommy Pihl (JCO Editor-In-Chief)
EuropaCorp's "I Love You Phillip Morris" opened no. 4 last weekend in United Kingdom. The comedy grossed $1.6 million including Wednesday/Thursday previews. The movie has not been the easiest of Jim Carrey's movies to sell to a mass audience, but the local distributor Entertainment 1 has supported with a robust marketing campaign (TV spots, website, posters and bus flyers), and will be hoping positive word-of-mouth will help punch it through.
The first country oversea was France where it has grossed $3.0 million after six weekends. Elsewhere, Russia with $800,000, Sweden with $500,000, and Taiwan has delivered $350,000 since the premiere. The numbers give "I Love You Phillip Morris a cume of $7 million internationally.
