When David asked him what it feels like being with his grandson, Jim replies "Why not? I'm Jim Carrey for God's sake!"
Then the host brings up the recent news of Jim becoming newly single after breaking up with actress Jenny McCarthy. After the commercial break, Jim starts talking about his new movie and how he approaches the role of gay convict Steven Russell. He said that he wasnt able to meet the real Steven Russell whos serving a life sentence, but was able to get the character down from listening to different audio interviews. Of course, Jim gives an example of his pure acting by pretending to undress Dave with his eyes, which is sensual staring with the help of some music. When Dave asks Jim how he handles being a straight actor playing a gay character, Jim asked him back, do you know any gay people in Gary, Indiana? Then a clip from the movie was shown where Steven decides to become a con man by hurting himself in different places and then getting paid for it.
For the grand finale, Jim decides to sing a song for the audience with some help from Daves band. Jim performs the A-Ha classic Take on Me, and ends the performance by trying to keep the last note as long as he can while breaking one of the hosts coffee cups.
Trivia Note: B.J. Thomas who was known for his single Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head (from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) was a guest vocalist that night.
