Jim Carrey in Peru
02 Jul 2011 By Tommy Pihl (JCO Editor-In-Chief)
Jim Carrey arrived late Wednesday to the city Cusco in southeastern Peru to visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. It is a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres above sea level. Situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley.
Jim arrived from Brazil where he promoted "Mr. Popper's Penguins" and also visted some tourist attractions for example the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the new wonders of the world.
After leaving Brazil, Carrey posted on Twitter that he was visiting Peru to "search out ancient civilizations and decifer the Origins of the Incan #BOING that built Machu Piccu ?;^?" and said that he was planning to climb to the top of Machu Picchu. He also tweeted two pictures of the Peruvian Andes while flying above them.
Unfortunately there was heavy rain falling on Machu Picchu when he began his tour around the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. He entered to the Inca sanctuary at 13:00 hours, after arriving in the Machu Picchu district on the Hiram Bingham train and taking a bus for a 30-minute ride.
Later that day he tweeted again to his followers from the Peruvian Andes: "Machu Picchu that is. I plan to climb to the top, say, "How day do dat?" and go home. ?;^}"
Once at the top of Huayna Picchu or "Young Mountain", Jim Carrey tweeted to his followers: "#Goodmornoonevening world! Machu Picchu, Temple of the sun. (sorry for this) Inca redible!"
Jim Carrey is today in Lima the capital of Peru.
