Jim Carrey's Speech at Maharishi University - Video
30 May 2014 By Eva Arajo (Web correspondent)
Sometimes we need to listen carefully to what someone is saying, regardless of what you may think of that person.
A few days ago 285 students representing 54 countries with the presence of their families received their degrees and Jim Carrey gave the commencement address to Maharishi University of Management's class of 2014.
The University Board of Trustees also presented Carrey, with the honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts Honoris Causa, in recognition of his significant lifetime achievements as a world-renowned comedian and actor, artist, author and philanthropist.
We are a bit bias since we love Jim but still we believe he has deserved that honor a long time ago.
Jim's speech which was about 25 minutes, address the students and their families in a way that only Jim Carrey could do. A sprinkle of comedy to light the mood, but above it all the necessary seriousness to touch every heart who listened carefully to what he had to say and teach.
Of all the things he said, the one that will probably touch more hearts is:
"You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."
But don't take our word for. Check the video to listen and see Jim's message.
