Jim & Andy - Hollywood Reporter Interview
13 Sep 2017 By Eva Arajo (Web correspondent)
The best part of a movie premiere? Interviews! A few days ago, the documentary "Jim & Andy - The Great Beyond" premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and as usual, many interviews have started to show up.
One of them is from The Hollywood Reporter. They interviewed Jim Carrey, Chris Smith (Director) and Danny Gabai (Producer).
Right from the beginning of the interview Jim had a comment about the fact that the elevator of the Windsor Arms has a faux library in it: "You can't remove the books. It's a fake library face - with a lock on it - and there's like a bar in front of it so you couldn't open it even if you wanted it to, and there's no books in it."
About the movie itself and the similarities between Andy and himself, Jim said: "It's kind of an interesting perspective on what came from losing yourself in a character and realizing you're a character who has been playing you your whole life. A lot of people think that I'm kinda going through something - but it's been my whole life. ... When I try to go back and play Jim Carrey, I got depressed, and now I don't try to do that anymore."
About what the movie comes about Jim has no questions:
"Who Am I? What I'm doing here? That's the central question. This movie really has an odd way of opening up that door to at least questioning that."
