Ace Ventura Being Lined Up For a Reboot
27 Oct 2017 By Eva Arajo (Web correspondent)
In the entertainment industry, we never really know what is going to happen.
Morgan Creek Productions was found by James G. Robinson and Joe Roth in 1988 and has a library consisting of 60-plus feature titles, including 13 movies that debuted at No. 1 at the box office including both Ace Ventura-movies by Jim Carrey.
Now, three decades after, they have changed their name to Morgan Creek Entertainment Group and are making several decision about exploiting their library in many platforms, from television, movies and digital.
Ace Ventura is one of them!
Morgan Creek has already started by doing the TV Series based on the movie "The Exorcist" and "with the Ace Ventura franchise, they want" to do a mainstream theatrical production relaunch," Morgan Creek boss David Robinson said, stressing that the idea is not to do a straight remake but a new movie in the spirit of the original, part of Morgan Creek's strategy to honor its library properties with the new takes without undercutting them. "Because it's episodic in nature, about a pet detective, it also lends itself to a traditional single-camera series franchise."
Robinson has also said the company would welcome Jim Carrey to reprise one of his signature roles as Ace Ventura. The current concept eyed for an Ace Ventura reboot is "a baton-handing," Wall said, a long-lost son or daughter of Ace possibly showing up at his doorstep and taking over."
All we have to say is: ALLLrighty then!
