This weekend marked the debut of "Knuckles" on Paramount+, marking the first official spin-off of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise. Feedback on the series has been predominantly positive. However, for those without a Paramount+ subscription, there's now an opportunity to catch the inaugural episode for free. It's available on the official Paramount+ YouTube channel, offering viewers a chance to dive into the series without any financial commitment.

The first episode of "Knuckles" introduces the regular cast alongside guest stars Ben Schwartz (Sonic), Colleen O'Shaughnessey (Tails), and Tika Sumpter (Maddie Wachowski). Acting as a narrative setup for the rest of the series, it also establishes connections with the previous film. Following the events of "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," Knuckles, initially an antagonist, becomes an ally of Sonic, eventually finding a new home on Earth with the Wachowski family. However, adapting to his new environment proves to be a challenge, showcasing some humorous cultural misunderstandings.
For those intrigued by the first episode, there are two avenues to continue the journey. Firstly, the entire series is available for streaming on Paramount+. Alternatively, fans can await the release of the show on Blu-Ray, with pre-orders already available on platforms like Amazon. Though pricier than a one-month subscription to Paramount+, it offers a tangible ownership option. Details regarding the Blu-Ray release date and potential bonus features are yet to be disclosed.
At this time, we don't know how Robotnik managed to survive the climax of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In the movie, Robotnik is attacking Sonic and friends using a giant robot (which happens to look a lot like him). Empowered by the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic emerges victorious, seemingly leading to Robotnik's demise as he plunges into the abyss below. However, despite a thorough search of the wreckage by G.U.N. agents, Robotnik's body is nowhere to be found. Compounding the mystery, Robotnik's steadfast follower, Stone, is spotted disguised among the G.U.N. personnel, suggesting potential involvement in Robotnik's escape. While it's conceivable that Stone orchestrated Robotnik's survival, the exact details remain elusive. Sonic enthusiasts eagerly await the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on December 20th, hoping for answers to this lingering question.
Following the "Knuckles" series, fans can anticipate the character's return in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," slated for a theatrical release on December 20th. In the interim, enthusiasts can explore Knuckles' appearances in various Sonic games such as "Sonic Superstars," "Sonic Origins," and the highly acclaimed "Sonic Mania." Additionally, they can indulge in "Sonic Frontiers," where Knuckles is a playable character, albeit not initially accessible.
