Trinidad and LA shoot details
03 Apr 2001

By Dana (JCO Web Correspondent)

On March 19, a relatively small crew of Castle Rock spent the day filming at the College Cove beach, Trinidad, CA. Part of the car crash scene was shot there, with a Mercedes being sunk off shore. They had removed its engine, so the environment didn't suffer too much. The production only took a day, and of course, none of the main cast seems to have been present.

MB also told us that a very important and pretty intense scene has already been shot right at the beginning of the production in Los Angeles. It's the HUAC hearing scene in which Peter Appleton, returned from Lawson and his time as Luke, is facing the consequences of apparently being a communist. The dialogue takes some dramatic turns when Peter invokes the First Amendment (freedom of speech/press) to the chairman and provokes the committee. It is a very dramatic, tough role to play for Carrey, and it promises to really be something else.

-- With big spanks to Nicole Yalsovac (Trinidad Chamber of Commerce), Jensen Rufe (Humboldt Film Commissioner), and to MB for letting us know about the shoot details. Click to comment this article.
