"Majestic" set reports - Wednesday and Thursday (April 11 & 12)
14 Apr 2001 Ferndale Fritz told us that on Wednesday morning and early afternoon, filming was done on the cover sets again, at the fairgrounds. The scene takes place at the Majestic's basement where Pete finds the old projectionist (usher?), Emmett, played by Gerry Black. As our contributor commented, although "not nearly as emotional as Monday's scene with Martin Landau, it's nevertheless powerful, and no doubt another pivotal moment for Pete."
Thursday's afternoon's filming took place at Town Hall Park, near the war-memorial statue. Ferndale Fritz reported that "it was a fairly intense filming, and adding to it were numerous interruptions...a falling piece of equipment during the first take; someone's hammering echoing off the buildings took out another; several dogs harmonizing in another; etc. Everyone on the set seemed tired and anxious to go home for the weekend." The scene features Jim Carrey and Laurie Holden, and according to our source, the performances were very good, especially from Laurie.
