Forman wins Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival
01 Mar 2000 "Man on the Moon" was one of 21 films competing at the 50th Berlin Film Festival, which showcased productions from around the world. Although the movie and its star didn't receive any of the awards in competition, Milos Forman won the Silver Bear for Best Director.
Forman attended the event and, when asked about the recent Oscar® no-nomination for Jim Carrey, told the press that "I'm shocked. I think he deserved it. I know it was a brilliant performance. I have never experienced an actor who gives so much of his soul and his heart and his mind to his work. He's so good that you don't see acting."
