R.E.M. lands on the Moon
06 Mar 1999 It's final, the group will write the score and a new song for the upcoming Andy Kaufman biopic starring Jim Carrey, scheduled to be released late Fall this year.
The main reason for the deal comes from the fact that the movie - "Man on the Moon" - got its title from one of R.E.M.'s songs. The song was written as a homage to the late comedian and part of their 1992 album "Automatic for the People".
According to Michael Stipe, R.E.M's lead singer, the band have been talking from the very beginning with the people who are doing "Man on the Moon." This will be the first time that the band score an entire film.
